Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check the status of my refunds?

To check the status of your Federal refund, visit the Internal Revenue Website, www.irs.gov, or call their automated system at 1-800-829-1040.

If you are calling and need to speak with a representative, please be patient as their wait times can be lengthy.

As a reminder, we cannot call the Internal Revenue Service of State Tax Departments on your behalf due to the Privacy Act.

To check the status of your State refund, visit your state department’s website.

Do you have a physical location?

We no longer have a physical location for drop offs or in-personal appointments. All correspondence is no conducted via email, client portal and phone calls.

If you would rather handle your transactions via USPS, please set-up a call to handle all your tax pre-work and you will be given instructions on where to mail your documents.

If I’m not ready to file my taxes by April 15th, what do I need to do?

We understand that there will be times when you’re not completely ready to file before the April deadline. In these instances, we suggest you file for an extension. Reach out and we’ll be glad to handle this for you.

As a reminder, if you owe any taxes, they are still due by the April deadline. This extension is only for extra time to file, not extra time to pay.

How long should I keep my tax records?

Federal law requires you to maintain copies of your tax returns and supporting documents for three years. This is called the "three-year law" and leads many people to believe they're safe provided they retain their documents for this period of time.

However, if the IRS believes you have significantly underreported your income (by 25 percent or more), or believes there may be indication of fraud, it may go back six years in an audit.
